Agafay Combo: Quad, Camel & Dinner Show
45 min quad biking + 25 min sunset camel ride + Berber dinner and live Gnawa show
- Free cancellation up to 24h before
- Instant confirmation
- WhatsApp reply within 15 min
The Agafay desert starts forty minutes outside Marrakech: bare stone hills, dry and grey-gold, without a single sand dune — and without the six-hour drive to the Sahara. You cross the plateau on a quad, trade the engine for a camel when the light turns orange, and end the night under a nomad tent with a tagine in front of you and Gnawa drums around the fire. We agree the pickup time with you on WhatsApp, and you are back at your riad the same evening.
Itinerary
- Step 1
Pickup at your accommodation
We agree your pickup time together on WhatsApp when you book, so it fits your day. Air-conditioned transport from the medina, Gueliz or Hivernage, then about forty minutes of road to the camp.
- Step 2
Arrival, welcome tea and briefing
Mint tea on arrival while the guides run the quad safety briefing. The track is dusty — bring a scarf and sunglasses if you have them.
- Step 3
Quad biking · 45 minutes
Automatic quads, convoys of six maximum, guide leading. No experience or licence needed. Helmet and fuel included.
- Step 4
Camel ride · 25 minutes
A walking pace across the plateau, the snow-capped Atlas on the horizon for much of the year. Long enough for the ride and the photos, short enough not to hurt.
- Step 5
Sunset tea break · 1 hour
Mint tea and Moroccan pastries on cushions at the edge of the plateau, with free time for photos — this is the best light of the day.
- Step 6
Berber dinner · 1 hour
Moroccan salads, tagine and a seasonal dessert under a nomad tent. Vegetarian and gluten-free options on request when you book.
- Step 7
Live show · 40 minutes
Gnawa music, percussion and a fire dance. Not a playlist: actual musicians, for a full forty minutes.
- Step 8
Back to Marrakech
Drop-off at your accommodation.

Questions about this tour
Is the Agafay desert made of sand?
No, and that is what makes it photogenic: Agafay is a stone desert of grey and ochre clay hills. The big sand dunes are at Merzouga, about eight hours away by road. Agafay is forty minutes from Marrakech.
Do I need a licence to ride the quad?
No. The quads are automatic — no gears, no clutch. A ten-minute briefing and a guide at the head of the convoy are enough, and complete beginners do this tour every day.
Can we come with children?
Yes. Children from 6 to 11 pay 40% less. They ride the camel with a handler and sit as a passenger behind an adult on the quad, depending on their age and height. Tell us their ages when you book.
What should we wear?
Trousers, closed shoes and a jacket — the temperature drops fast after sunset, even in summer. Bring a scarf and sunglasses too: the track is dusty.
Does the tour run in winter?
Yes, all year round. The sun sets much earlier in winter, so we simply agree an earlier pickup with you on WhatsApp and you still get the camel ride at golden hour. The snow-capped Atlas in the background is a bonus of the season.
Is there a shopping stop?
No. No cooperative, no workshop, no boutique. That is a promise, not a figure of speech.
What happens if it rains?
We reschedule or refund in full. Quad biking on a wet track is neither pleasant nor safe, and we do not run it just to save a booking.
